PDF has a 1 in check square. Print at Actual size (100%). SVG and PNG are for Canva, Cricut Design Space or Silhouette.

How to use the template

  1. Choose your tumbler, or pick Custom and measure your own cup.
  2. Download the PDF and print it on plain paper at Actual size. Check that the square measures 1 in.
  3. Cut it out and wrap it around the cup. If it fits, you're ready.
  4. Open the PNG or SVG in your design app, place your design inside the print area, then mirror it before printing on sublimation paper.

How the math works

A straight cup unrolls into a rectangle: width is the circumference plus seam overlap, height is the printable height plus bleed.

A tapered cup is a slice of a cone. Unrolled, it becomes a curved band between two circles. We find the slant height from your height and the difference in radius, then the radius of each edge so that the wide arc equals the wide circumference and the narrow arc equals the narrow one. Seam overlap is added to one end.

Paper fit assumes a 1/8 in printer margin on every side.

Where the preset sizes come from

Manufacturers rarely publish wrap sizes, and template sites disagree. Verified sizes come from a manufacturer or seller listing we can cite. Typical sizes are compared across several references that differ slightly, so measure your cup. Either way, use Custom if your cup is different.

FAQ

How do I measure my tumbler?

Wrap a soft tape measure around the top rim and around the base, then measure the height of the area you want to print. If the two circumferences match, the cup is straight.

Why is a tapered template curved?

A tapered cup is a slice of a cone. When you unroll a cone, both edges become arcs, so the flat template is a curved band.

What does seam overlap do?

It adds a little width so the ends overlap and no blank line shows at the seam. About 0.25 in is common.

How do I make a template for a 40 oz tumbler with a handle?

Choose 2-piece. A 40 oz handle tumbler is straight at the top and narrows at the bottom, so it needs an upper wrap and a curved lower wrap. Turn on handle notches so the upper wrap fits around the two brackets, with the seam behind the handle. The PDF prints each piece on its own sheet.

Do I need to give my email?

No. Every download is free, with no email and no account.
